Course description: This one-day introductory course is designed for occupational, physical, and speech therapists in neurological rehabilitation who wish to establish a fundamental understanding of evaluation and treatment of people with neurologically-related visual and perceptual impairments. Experienced clinicians will offer their knowledge of the visual system, assessment techniques, professional networking regarding visual management, and clinical manifestations of common visual impairments following stroke and traumatic brain injury. Compensatory and remedial treatment strategies will be presented, with an emphasis on easy implementation into practice. Participants will receive a detailed outline of each presentation, basic visual treatment tools, and reference materials for use following the course.
