Brief course description: This course will discuss the importance of including caregivers in the acute care process, maximizing involvement through therapeutic use of self, and review importance of using a family-centered approach to achieve the best outcomes while also attempting to reduce hospital-related trauma. A review of literature and specific examples of program development will highlight occupational therapists’ unique role in elevating the standard of care at their current workplace to include co occupation and family centered care in everyday practice.
